Pride Duo

Pride Duo

For Pride Month 2024, we're delighted to offer this mini-bundle, or duo, of two issues from our archive: Wasafiri 109, which has a lead feature on Trans Literary Activism, and Wasafiri 50: Queer Postcolonial, for the discounted price of £20.

Wasafiri 109 introduces new fiction and an interview from Monica Ali, the 2021 Queen Mary Wasafiri New Writing Prize winners, and a lead feature on Trans Literary Activism written collaboratively across generations. An incendiary article on postcolonial prize cultures, an interview with Sara Ahmed on Complaint!, and the winning entry from the 2021 Wasafiri Essay Prize on the politics of Hong Kong poetry continue the issue’s theme of literary activism across genres, institutions, and continents.

Wasafiri 50: Queer Postcolonial includes Jarrod Hayes on Zionism, queering diaspora, and Albert Memmi, an obituary of Louise Bennett by Linton Kwesi Johnson, a wide mix of poetry by Jackie Kay and d’bi young, among others, an extract from Maureen Duffy, a queer reading of Wole Soyinka's The Road, and a variety of reviews of key texts that explore queerness and postcoloniality in tandem.
