Nazry Bahrawi

Nazry Bahrawi is an assistant professor of Southeast Asian literature and culture at University of Washington in Seattle. He specialises in the decolonial work of articulating Malay-Indonesian vernacular knowledge in cultural studies expressed through literature, film, and art. He is currently researching the intersections of race and animal narratives in maritime Southeast Asia and has published on literary Islam and translation studies in the region. Nazry has translated two Bahasa literary works to English and edited a collection of Malay speculative short fiction from Singapore.
