Alice Harry

Alice Harry is an artist, writer, and PhD candidate at the Royal College of Art. Informed by black, queer, feminist scholarship, her research asks how citation might speak with and speak back; questioning how/whose knowledge is signalled and summoned across texts through time. Her practice-based research utilises a method of ‘rehearsal with’ in order to sense and expose not only the effects of citation, but the mechanics and site of citation itself. Her practice-based project posits citation as a series of embodied gestures and utterances: deploying mimicry, jest, ventriloquism, and staging across practices of performance, publishing, writing, and installation.  

Alice is a co-founder of the arts collective and publishing press Bleet! which works at the intersection of sound, art-writing/text, and performance and is soon to open a tiny gallery (The Privy)  in the toilet of her local pub with her best friend and partner, Finn.  

Her research is funded by the London Arts and Humanities Partnership.
