Adalber Salas Hernández
Adalber Salas Hernández is a Venezuelan poet, essayist, and translator. He is the author of several books of poems, most recently Salvoconducto (XXXVI Arcipreste de Hita Prize), and La ciencia de las despedidas (translated by Robin Myers as The Science of Departures). His poetry collections also include Crania (translated by Robin Myers as well; published by Letra Muerta Inc), mínimos (translated by Robin Myers as minuscules and published by Alliteration in 2024), Isolario (also translated by Robin Myers as Islarium and published by Peepal Tree Press in 2025), and El sermón de las cosas mudas.
He has translated works by Marguerite Duras, Antonin Artaud, Charles Wright, Yusef Komunyakaa, Pascal Quignard, Lorna Goodison, Patrick Chamoiseau, Anne Boyer, Roger Robinson, Frankétienne, Shara McCallum, Jamaica Kincaid, Safiya Sinclair, Kendel Hippolyte, Édouard Glissant, Georges Bataille, Mark Strand, Kei Miller, René Depestre, Kamau Brathwaite, Edwidge Danticat, and Suzanne Césaire, among others. Salas Hernández holds a PhD in Spanish and Portuguese Languages and Literatures from NYU.
