Erkan Gürsel
Erkan Gursel is a joint Ph.D. student at King's College London and the University of Hong Kong. He holds a B.A. in Middle Eastern Studies from SOAS and an M.Sc. in Human Geography from UCL, alongside an M.Phil in Sociology from the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on the socio-political implications of carceral governance in the aftermath of large-scale disaster. Drawing on personal experience and political organising, he is likewise committed to examining the politics of forced migration and diasporic identity formation, having conducted research and organising work with Arabic-speaking refugee communities in Istanbul and Turkish-speaking migrant communities in Berlin.
