Sarah Anjum Bari
Sarah Anjum Bari (she/her) is a Bangladeshi writer, editor, and second year MFA candidate in the Nonfiction Writing Program at the University of Iowa, where she also teaches literary publishing. She completed an MA in History & Literature at Columbia University's campus in Paris. Before moving to Iowa City, Sarah spent 9 years working at Bangladesh's The Daily Star newspaper, where she launched their Books page and went on to serve as the Books & Literary Editor; she was also teaching English and creative writing at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh. Her writing has appeared or is forthcoming in The Daily Star, Electric Literature, Literary Hub, Shuddhashar, Himal Southasian, The Financial Express Bangladesh, and the short story anthology, Disconnect - Collected Short Fiction. Her essay, 'Prelude to A Classic', won the 2024 Prairie Lights Essay Prize.
