Solidarities

This curated bundle of four issues explores the idea of writing, literature, and art as forms of expressing and practising solidarity. Can storytelling play a role in liberation? Can the page act as a frontline? This bundle is anchored by our autumn 2026 issue, Wasafiri 127: Soldarities, which features work by some of our most foremost thinkers and creatives, including Tareq Baconi, Jay Bernard, Safia Elhillo, Saleem Haddad, Lola Olufemi, and Joe Sacco.

Wasafiri 104: Human Rights Cultures, guest co-edited by Zoe Norridge and Billy Kahora, inhabits 'the space of testimony, compelled by the imperative and art of truth-telling, while unfolding the layered experiences of human rights violations'; Wasafiri 103: Writing Whiteness delves into the 'spectre haunting popular sociology, theory, and "progressive" social commentary ... the spectre of whiteness.' Finally, Wasafiri 80: Beautiful Resistance - A Special Issue on Palestine gathers work from one of the most important resistance movements of our time, featuring work by Susan Abulhawa, Selma Dabbagh, Adania Shibli, Samia Halaby, Najwan Darwish, and many more.
