Join Wasafiri and English PEN for the launch of Wasafiri 127: Solidarities, with issue contributors and friends Zena Agha (Chair), Tahmima Anam, lisa luxx, and Lola Olufemi. Together they will discuss forms of literary activism and how we can action change in a world beyond our comprehension. 

Join us to celebrate the online launch of Wasafiri 126: Impossible Returns – The Spain Issue. Guest editors Marta Fernández Campa and María del Pilar Kaladeen will lead a wide-ranging online event drawing out key themes from the issue – including national memory, colonial history, nationality, and identity – with readings, discussion, and art presentations from various issue contributors.

We're delighted to announce two partnered events – Landscapes of Resistance with Tahmina Anam and Ibtisam Azem, and Voices from Our Regions: Debut Fiction with Laura Blake, Manish Chauhan, and Sufiyaan Salam – with our good friends at Birmingham Literature Festival. Both will be chaired by Wasafiri's Editor and Publishing Director, Sana Goyal, centring conversations on place, landscape, and belonging.  

Join a short course with our International Writer in Residence, Safia Elhillo. Across two workshops, Safia will explore the role that poetry plays when witnessing and recounting world events. The workshops will take place online across one week in September and are open to poets at any stage of their career.

What shapes can solidarities take in these times we live in? Join our Editor and Publishing Director Sana Goyal for a conversation on connection and public and private revolutions with Y M Abdel-Magied, whose novel At Sea offers a searing takedown of Big Oil; Molly Crabapple, who tells the story of the Jewish Bund movement in Here Where We Live Is Our Country; and Hannah Lillith Assadi, whose Paradiso 17 is loosely based on her father’s exile from Palestine after the Nakba. 

Join us at the Instituto Cervantes London for an unforgettable evening of readings by a range of Latinx poets, hosted by poet and co-editor of Wasafiri’s Presencia y Resistencia issue, Leo Boix.

Join us at the British Library for an evening of sound, spirit, and connection — including readings, performance, and conversation celebrating British Latinx voices and Wasafiri 124, guest co-edited by Karina Lickorish Quinn and Leo Boix.

Wasafiri will be returning to the Southbank Centre to celebrate our 2025 Queen Mary Wasafiri New Writing Prize winners in fiction, life writing, and poetry, as part of this year's London Literature Festival.

Join us for a conversation with Khaled Esguerra, Juan Gonzales, and Carlos Páez González – contributors to Wasafiri 122: The UAE Issue – with accompanying song and theatre performances, at Project Space, Alserkal Avenue in Dubai.

Wasafiri is delighted to celebrate the publication of our 2025 summer special issue, The UAE Issue, on 15 July, 2025 at Reference Point in London.
